The road to Antwerp

Finally. Everything is arranged and taken care off. Starting next Wednesday my Belgian adventure begins. I will join Truvo as the Director Content from the 1st of July. An exciting challenge that I really look forward to. InCircle will still continue but in a different way. I will focus on helping not for profit and non profit organisations in a new and totaly different way. If you like to know more about those activities please e-mail me or use Twitter (twitter.com/marcel_incircle or @marcel_incircle). At first I will be ‘living out of a suitcase’ and will frequently write a ‘Via Antverpia’ posting in which I keep you updated with the Belgian adventure!

Al even geen samenhangende serie blogposts meer op de site gezet. Toch een raar gevoel als je dat even met rust laat, bloggen is namelijk leuk en je hoeft daarvoor geen begenadigt schrijver te zijn. Apart daar wat minder mee te doen. Zo ook met Twitter. Veel minder actief geweest en ook daar blijk ik wel wat afkickverschijnselen te vertonen. Minder aan internet gedaan, minder aan netwerken. Minder maar ook meer, meer andere dingen.

Een leuk evenement georganiseerd voor de stichting. Meer familie-dingen gedaan. In ziekenhuizen gezeten, verjaardagen gevierd, nog intensiever met de kinderen aan de slag. En nu aan het wachten op het verlossende woord aangaande werken in Antwerpen. Wel veel aan m’n hoofd zou ik kunnen zeggen. Al die offline bezigheden kunnen de mens behoorlijk bezighouden ;-)

Maar wat denk je, Antwerpen bracht naast een mogelijke nieuwe werkplek ook een antwoord op de drukte en stress. In de dierentuin was net een olifant geboren, daar zijn de dames naar gaan kijken toen ik bezig was aan een 5 uur durende zakelijke babbel. Fantastisch om zo een klein dier te zien die net 4 dagen op de wereld is. Maar het mooiste zijn wel de zeeotters.

Die hebben klaarblijkelijk een prachtige remedie tegen kopzorgen en stress: was het weg!

Food for Thought with Ervin Laszlo a succes!

Finally, Saturday the 16th of May arrived. The first Friends4Change event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. And was not ‘just another event’. There was a larger audience then we expected and that was cleary contributing to the dynamics and the very positive and relaxed atmosphere.

Ervin Laszlo presented his vision on the state of global emergency and the world shift. There was a lot of discussion on a wide range of subjects varieing from changes in the workspace and what a world shift means to sustainability and more scientific subjects like the akasha field. The audience seemed to be well prepared and there was a lot of attention for the things Ervin explained (as you can see in the pictures, people were realy listening). There was enough room for discussion and questions and the audience did not waste any moment available.

We will get in touch with those who have been there shortly and we hope that people who weren’t there but are interested in what we do will get in touch. Together we can do more. Pictures were made and you can find them through the link at the bottom of this post. Movies are on the editing table and will follow shortly hereafter as well as the presentation Ervin Laszlo showed on the screen.

Robotics

I have been following robotics from a distance for some time now. Decennia ago we thought that we would have dish washing robots, a hang-the-laundry-droid and other tin slaves in a very short period of time. Now we know that this is not the case. But looking at the development of information processing capabillities of robots things have changed and are going faster than we think. In the early 90ties a robot could be controlled with 100 MIPS (millions of instructions per second) now my Macbook works with 10.000 of those.

This makes me wonder about the status in less than 50 years. We most probably will have computers and robots that outrun us in loads of areas and at the rate they are developing we might not be able to catch up with them. I can’t say that I like that perspective but anyway, judge for your self: Rise of the Robots–The Future of Artificial Intelligence by Hans Moravec
